We had a very successful Safety Week - with three fire drills and one lock down drill which was attended by the City Police.

Cross Country is happening and our team is training for their meet on Oct. 16. Thank you to Ms. Conner and Ms. Wagar for coaching.
A Message from the City of Kingston about parking:
As you are aware, the City of Kingston changed the parking zones along Lyons Street in front of the school, here is a message in respect to these changes:
“Over the past few years, the City received concerns about traffic congestion and maintenance issues along Lyons Street, especially near the school. These concerns were reviewed during the 2024–2025 school year in consultation with LDSB, and the resulting changes were included in a Road Safety Enhancement report presented to Council in June.
To reduce congestion, improve safety, and protect the grass boulevard, the 5-minute parking zone directly in front of the school has been changed to a no-stopping zone on school days.
To ensure families still have access to short-term parking, new 5-minute zones were added north and south of the school frontage. This change increases the overall number of available short-term parking spaces. Additional parking is also available on the school side of the street along Kirkpatrick.”
If you have concerns or questions, please email contactus@cityofkingston.ca
Orange Shirt Day
On October 30, in recognition of Orange Shirt Day, students in Grades 4 to 8 had the special opportunity to experience a live performance by Alyssa Delbaere-Sawchuk titled Métis Music, Stories, and Fiddle.
Classes also discussed the Residential School System and the true history of relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples in what is currently known as Canada. Students learned that it is our job to honour the children who never returned home, to stand with Survivors, and to commit to reconciliation in our classrooms and communities.
Students also helped create a Heart Garden as seen in the photo below:

Lice - Be vigilant
As many know, lice loves to spread in fall and spring. We are asking families to be extra vigilant and always remind your child not to share brushes, hats or other personal items.
Data Verification Forms
These forms help us keep our information up-to-date - please return these ASAP.
Cell Phones
Students may bring phones to school but they are to remain switched off, out of view and are not to be used during the day unless directed by the teacher for instructional purposes. If students brings cell phones to school, teachers will ask for them to be locked up (in a lock box) for the day. If students do not want to lock up their phones, they should be left at home.
If a student needs to call home for an emergency during the school day, they must do so using the office phone. Failure to follow the school’s cell phone expectations will result in phone call/meetings with parents/caregivers.
A reminder, that the school is not responsible for lost or damaged devices.
Thank you for your cooperation with this!
School Day Payment System
This year we will use the School Day online system for all field trip permissions and all payments to the school (i.e., hot lunch, field trips, special events, etc.). When teachers or the school creates an event, an email is sent to applicable parents. This email comes from School Day, and may go to your junk mail folder unless you identify it as a recognized sender.
All School Day events are required to have an end date. For field trips, this is usually the day before the trip, but for events involving the ordering of food, the end date must give staff enough time to coordinate with our providers and order food. Please ensure that you complete any orders/permissions before the end date.
Families will need to register for School Day www.school-day.com and use a ten-digit secure code to link you and your child(ren). These forms will be sent home next week.
Please contact your child's teacher or the office if you require assistance.
Important Reminders:
- Please ensure that school staff are aware of any allergies or medical conditions and return all Medical forms (Section 300) to the school as soon as possible
- If your child has alternate pick up arrangements, or will not be taking the bus at the end of the day, please ensure that you communicate with the classroom teacher (send a note) or with the Main Office if a change occurs during the day
- Please ensure that your child is dressed for the weather and has extra clothing in case of spills or bathroom accidents
