We can't believe there are 8 weeks of school left before summer break. Please continue to check School Day for permissions for trips and purchases (milkshakes, freezies etc.).This week was Mental Health week -students went on mindful walks, did celebration of dance and read books about mindfulness and regulation. We competed against some very strong schools and came away as better players.We would also like to extend a big thank you to the Canadian Tire at 1040 Division Street for graciously donating basketballs for our tournament winners. Your support helped make the event extra special for our students and created a memorable experience they will carry with them. This process involves months of observation into academic and social learning. Over the next few weeks, staff will collaborate to discuss each child's placement, including academics, peer groups, dynamics, etc. Should parents/guardians have information they feel is key when placing their child, they are invited to submit remarks or requests to molly@limestone.on.ca. While requests are not guaranteed, we may use information from families to support decision making. If students brings cell phones to school, teachers will ask for them to be locked up (in a lock box) for the day. If students do not want to lock up their phones, they should be left at home.If a student needs to call home for an emergency during the school day, they must do so using the office phone. Failure to follow the school’s cell phone expectations will result in phone call/meetings with parents/caregivers.A reminder, that the school is not responsible for lost or damaged devices.Thank you for your cooperation with this!<h2 class="editor-heading-h2" dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;">School Day Payment System</h2>This year we will use the School Day online system for all field trip permissions and all payments to the school (i.e., hot lunch, field trips, special events, etc.). When teachers or the school creates an event, an email is sent to applicable parents. This email comes from School Day, and may go to your junk mail folder unless you identify it as a recognized sender.All School Day events are required to have an end date. For field trips, this is usually the day before the trip, but for events involving the ordering of food, the end date must give staff enough time to coordinate with our providers and order food. Please ensure that you complete any orders/permissions before the end date.Families will need to register for School Day <a href="https://www.school-day.com/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" class="editor-link" dir="ltr">www.school-day.com</a> and use a ten-digit secure code to link you and your child(ren). Happy Friday Molly families!Happy May! Thankfully Spring has arrived.Many of our students in grades 3-8 are enjoying running practice at recess. Some students will compete at the LCVI Road Race next week. Thank you to our running coaches, Ms. Carter, Ms. Zwicker, Ms. Condlln and Ms. Conner!Our junior basketball season has been going strong and teams will have their final tournaments on May 7. Thanks to our coaches: Ms. Conner, Mr. A, Mr. Darrah and Ms. Irwin for all of their extra time!Tis the season for many field trips - please connect with your child's classroom teacher if you have question or require financial support.We have so much to celebrate at Molly Brant!Class Placements for 2026-2027 School Year Our team ensures that exceptional care and thought are put into every student's class placements. This process involves months of observation into academic and social learning. Over the next few weeks, staff will collaborate to discuss each child's placement, including academics, peer groups, dynamics, etc. Should parents/guardians have information they feel is key when placing their child, they are invited to submit remarks or requests to molly@limestone.on.ca. While requests are not guaranteed, we may use information from families to support decision making. If students brings cell phones to school, teachers will ask for them to be locked up (in a lock box) for the day. If students do not want to lock up their phones, they should be left at home.If a student needs to call home for an emergency during the school day, they must do so using the office phone. Failure to follow the school’s cell phone expectations will result in phone call/meetings with parents/caregivers.A reminder, that the school is not responsible for lost or damaged devices.Thank you for your cooperation with this!<h2 class="editor-heading-h2" dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;">School Day Payment System</h2>This year we will use the School Day online system for all field trip permissions and all payments to the school (i.e., hot lunch, field trips, special events, etc.). When teachers or the school creates an event, an email is sent to applicable parents. This email comes from School Day, and may go to your junk mail folder unless you identify it as a recognized sender.All School Day events are required to have an end date. For field trips, this is usually the day before the trip, but for events involving the ordering of food, the end date must give staff enough time to coordinate with our providers and order food. Please ensure that you complete any orders/permissions before the end date.Families will need to register for School Day <a href="https://www.school-day.com/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" class="editor-link" dir="ltr">www.school-day.com</a> and use a ten-digit secure code to link you and your child(ren). The KFL&A Public Health guidelines have changed and include different symptoms since Covid. Vomiting and diarrhea remain 48 hours symptom free before they can return to school. Limestone Students Shine at the 2026 Ontario Skills Competition

Limestone District School Board students showcased their outstanding skills and talent at the 2026 Skills Ontario Competition, held in Toronto on May 4 and 5, 2026.The Skills Ontario Competition offers a unique opportunity for top students from across the province to demonstrate that they are truly the best in their field. Over two and a half days, competitors impress educators, family members, friends, and potential employers through hands-on, real‑world challenges. Remembering Trustee Jim Neill

The Limestone District School Board is deeply saddened by the passing of Trustee Jim Neill, who served as a Trustee since 2022. Jim passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2026.During his time on the Board, Trustee Neill demonstrated a commitment to public education and to supporting the work of the Board in service of students, families, and communities across Limestone. He was a long-time educator in the Upper Canada District School Board, as well as a served for multiple terms as a City of Kingston Councillor. We are grateful for the contributions he made as a Trustee.We extend our sincere condolences to Trustee Neill’s family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time.“We are saddened by the passing of Trustee Jim Neill,” said Board Chair Karen McGregor. “Jim brought a thoughtful presence to the Board and a genuine interest in public education. Upcoming Family Engagement and Climate Survey

The Limestone District School Board is inviting families to take part in the Family Engagement and Climate Survey. This survey gives families an opportunity to share their experiences with their student’s school and with the school board.The feedback helps us understand what is working well and where we can improve. It also supports schools and school councils in building welcoming, safe, and supportive school communities.The survey includes questions about:<ul class="editor-list-ul"><li value="1" class="editor-listitem">How schools communicate and share information</li><li value="2" class="editor-listitem">Whether families feel welcome, included, and connected</li><li value="3" class="editor-listitem">Barriers to taking part in school activities, such as time, childcare, language, accessibility, or cost</li><li value="4" class="editor-listitem">Safety and bullying, including reporting and follow‑up</li><li value="5" class="editor-listitem">Licensed Before and After School Programs, including questions to help inform future planning</li><li value="6" class="editor-listitem">Some questions ask about family background to help us better understand different experiences across our communities</li></ul>Participation is voluntary and anonymous. Families may skip any questions they choose. No names or identifying information are collected. Results are shared only as grouped summaries and are used to support learning, planning, and improvement at the board, school, and school council levels.The survey will be open from May 1 to May 11 and will be available online. Families will receive an e-mail on May 1 with a link to the survey. Paper copies will also be available at your school’s administrative office starting May 1.The survey was developed with input from families and advisory committees, including the Parent Involvement Committee, to reflect a wide range of perspectives.
