Happy Friday, Molly Families!

We’ve had a wonderful week of learning and growing together here at Molly Brant! Our classrooms have been buzzing with curiosity, creativity, and lots of great thinking. Thank you for supporting your students as they continue to shine.

As the cooler weather settles in, please remember to send your child with clothing that’s appropriate for the season—warm layers, hats, and mitts will help keep everyone comfortable during outdoor activities.

Looking Ahead: Fall Fest Week!
Next week, we’re excited to celebrate the season with our Fall Fest! It’s going to be a week full of fun, themed activities, and school spirit. Please check out the poster below for all the details so your family can join in the excitement.

We hope you enjoy a restful and happy weekend. Thank you for being such an important part of our school community—we can’t wait to see everyone back on Monday for another great week!

Courteous Communication

All communication between school, students and home (in person, on the phone or digitally) must be courteous and respectful. All students, families and school staff have the right to be safe, and to feel safe, in their school community. With this right comes the responsibility of all members to contribute to a positive school climate.

KLF&A Public Health Childhood Illnesses and Exclusions

Unsure when to keep your child home when they are unwell? The KFL&A Public Health guidelines have changed and include different symptoms since Covid. Vomiting and diarrhea remain 48 hours symptom free before they can return to school. Other childhood illness exclusions can be found here: https://www.kflaph.ca/en/health-topics/common-childhood-illnesses.aspx

Other Reminders:

  • If your child has alternate pick up arrangements, or will not be taking the bus at the end of the day, please ensure that you communicate with the classroom teacher (send a note) or with the Main Office if a change occurs during the day.
  • Please ensure that your child is dressed for the weather and has extra clothing in case of spills or bathroom accidents.

Reminder: No dogs on property

Kindly be reminded that dogs are not permitted on property during school hours, even if they are leashed.

Parking on Lyons Street: A Message from the City of Kingston

As you are aware, the City of Kingston has changed the parking zones along Lyons Street in front of our school.

They asked us to share this message:
“Over the past few years, the City received concerns about traffic congestion and maintenance issues along Lyons Street, especially near the school. These concerns were reviewed during the 2024–2025 school year in consultation with LDSB, and the resulting changes were included in a Road Safety Enhancement report presented to Council in June.

To reduce congestion, improve safety, and protect the grass boulevard, the 5-minute parking zone directly in front of the school has been changed to a no-stopping zone on school days.

To ensure families still have access to short-term parking, new 5-minute zones were added north and south of the school frontage. This change increases the overall number of available short-term parking spaces. Additional parking is also available on the school side of the street along Kirkpatrick.

If you have concerns or questions, please emailcontactus@cityofkingston.ca

Cell Phones

Students may bring phones to school but they are to remain switched off, out of view and are not to be used during the day unless directed by the teacher for instructional purposes. If students brings cell phones to school, teachers will ask for them to be locked up (in a lock box) for the day. If students do not want to lock up their phones, they should be left at home.

If a student needs to call home for an emergency during the school day, they must do so using the office phone. Failure to follow the school’s cell phone expectations will result in phone call/meetings with parents/caregivers.

A reminder, that the school is not responsible for lost or damaged devices.

Thank you for your cooperation with this!

School Day Payment System

This year we will use the School Day online system for all field trip permissions and all payments to the school (i.e., hot lunch, field trips, special events, etc.). When teachers or the school creates an event, an email is sent to applicable parents. This email comes from School Day, and may go to your junk mail folder unless you identify it as a recognized sender.

All School Day events are required to have an end date. For field trips, this is usually the day before the trip, but for events involving the ordering of food, the end date must give staff enough time to coordinate with our providers and order food. Please ensure that you complete any orders/permissions before the end date.

Families will need to register for School Day www.school-day.com and use a ten-digit secure code to link you and your child(ren). These forms will be sent home next week.

Please contact your child's teacher or the office if you require assistance.

Upcoming Dates:

October 28 - School Council BOO BASH 6:00 -7:30 pm

By Jessica Hellard Real Estate Group

🎃 Join Kingston’s 2nd Annual Treat Accessibly Halloween Village! 🎃
Presented by the Jessica Hellard Real Estate Group, this inclusive Halloween celebration takes place October 25 from 1:00–4:00 PM on Purcell Crescent.

This is a unique and exciting opportunity to create a Halloween experience for children — and the young at heart — who may face barriers, physical or otherwise, with traditional trick-or-treating. Together with over 30 supportive homeowners and local community businesses, we’re transforming the neighbourhood into a magical, barrier-free Halloween Village featuring:

👻 Decorated homes and accessible treat stations in driveways
🍬 Edible and non-edible treats
🎭 Costume contests and prizes
🎶 A live DJ, games, and costumed entertainers
🎨 Face painting
🌭 BBQ and Starbucks on site to raise donations for the Inclusive Play Project
and more!

Our goal is to create a safe, fun, and inclusive Halloween experience for ALL kids — with and without disabilities — and their families. Parents are encouraged to join the fun in costume too!

🕒 Registration Details

To ensure a fun and smooth experience for everyone:

1️⃣ Pre-registration is required. Space is limited, and only those registered will be admitted.
2️⃣ During registration, please choose a 1-hour time slot that best suits your family. Once a time slot reaches capacity, it will close.
3️⃣ You may register up to 20 people per group/family, including adults. Larger groups can split into multiple registrations.
4️⃣ If there’s anything we can do to enhance your experience, please email hello@hellardrealestate.com and we’ll do our best to accommodate.
5️⃣ Free parking is available. Accessible Parking will also be right by the event.

We will also be collecting donations for the Inclusive Play Project, supporting accessible play for children of all abilities.

📸 Don’t forget to capture your memories and share them online — let’s show Kingston that an accessible and inclusive Halloween is the best kind of Halloween… for everyBODY, every year!

Our Accessible Halloween Village is proudly presented in partnership with Treat Accessibly, a national movement dedicated to making Halloween barrier-free for all children.

About Treat Accessibly

Founded in 2017 by the Padulo family, Treat Accessibly began when they realized their home’s stairs made trick-or-treating inaccessible for a neighbour using a wheelchair. They relocated their treat station to their driveway — and inspired a nationwide movement. Today, over 100,000 homes across Canada display Treat Accessibly lawn signs, signaling their commitment to inclusive Halloween fun and community spirit.
