Month of December Winter Scene | Calendar pictures, Clip art, Clip art borders

The temperature outside is getting cooler but students will continue to go outside for recess and outdoor learning several times a day.  Please help your child to remember to bring suitable clothing so that they can be comfortable outdoors.

Although some of our traditional pre-winter break activities cannot take place due to COVID restrictions, school staff, the Spirit Club (working in class cohorts) and Parent Council are all thinking creatively to make this time special and memorable.   You will see our upcoming Spirit Days marked on the attached calendar.

Picture Day
School Photos:
School photos will be taken on Tuesday, December 15.  Health protocols that have been approved by both Public Health and the Limestone District School Board will be followed.  Class photos will not be taken this year.  Students who are enrolled in the Virtual School have the option of making arrangements to have photos done at the LifeTouch studio, by appointment (located at 3055 Princess Street) or coming to the school between 3:30-4:30pm on Tuesday, December 15.  Students must be accompanied by an adult if they are coming to the school for photos and everyone will be asked to line-up, physically distanced, while waiting for their photo to be taken.  Please do not arrive before 3:00 as our parking lot will be busy with departing buses.

Masks:
All students are required to bring masks to school and wear them in the school and outside when keeping a distance of 2 meters is not possible (i.e. on the climbers or when playing in close proximity to friends).  Please ensure that students bring a mask with them every day.  If possible, having an extra mask in their backpack would be helpful in case the mask get wet or dirty during the day.

Grade 5 & 9 ActivPass:
IMPORTANT NOTICE: Due to Covid-19, the Grade 5 and 9 ActivPass has been postponed until further notice. Visit Kingston Gets Active to find alternate ideas and resources on getting active during this time, both at home and outdoors. The Limestone District School Boards values this unique partnership with the municipality and other community partners to provide students with free access to indoor and outdoor facilities. We look forward to its reinstatement when it is safe to do so.

Current Contact Information:
If your contact information (address, phone number or email) changes at anytime during the school year, please notify the office.  It is critical that we have current contact information in order to be able to reach parents/guardians in the event of a situation during the school day.  The contact information we have on file would also be used by Public Health in the event there were to be a positive case of COVID-19 in your child’s cohort.

Thank You Parent Council!
The students and staff at Molly Brant would like to thank the Parent Council for purchasing outdoor balls for students to use at recess.  The Council purchased enough equipment that every classroom was able to have two, brand new balls to use when they are playing outside.  This support is greatly appreciated and helps our students be active

Parent Council Virtual Meeting:
Our next Parent Council meeting will take place on Monday, December 7th from 6:00-7:00pm.  This meeting will be held virtually, using Microsoft Teams.

Please complete the Google Form by following the link below if you wish to attend the Virtual Parent Council Meeting on December 7th.  The form will ask for your email address and everyone who completes the form will be sent the new meeting information about how to join a virtual meeting on MS Teams platform prior to December 7th.

We know that there may be a few bumps in navigating a virtual meeting and are committed to helping to navigate those bumps.  We are all on our own learning journey!  We will send out information before the meeting and open the meeting for people to join at 5:30pm.  Anyone who would like to join the meeting but would feel more comfortable calling in, rather than joining virtually, is asked to leave their phone number on the Google form so that we can contact you and make arrangements for you to do so.

Please follow the link below to complete the Google Form so that information about the virtual meeting can be sent to you.

Bussing:
Tri-Board Student Transportation has indicated there will likely be more bus delays and cancellations this year due to circumstances related to the COVID-19 pandemic.  Families should have a backup plan to transport their student(s) to school.  If a bus is cancelled in the morning, it will NOT run in the afternoon. Families would be responsible for transportation both to and from school in the result of a bus cancellation.

Families should ensure they are signed up to receive direct notifications either by email or Tri-Board’s app.  Delays and cancellations are also posted to Tri-Board’s Twitter account.
